Motorway portion to be realigned

The government is planning to undertake the realignment of Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) in salt range with the estimated cost of Rs 3 billion. A statement issued here on Saturday said that about 20km portion that passes through the salt range causes great difficulties for the traffic and badly affects the traffic stream.
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had directed the Communication Minister, Shamim Siddiqui to attach top priority to realignment of salt range portion of M-2, the statement said. It may be mentioned that a foreign construction firm built M-2. Despite fault in design and alignment.
