Faisalabad to administer polio drops to 1.1 million children

Faisalabad City District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef has directed Health, Education and other concerned departments to make such foolproof arrangements for administering polio drops to the children up to five years of age as that no child of any house throughout the district remained unattended.
He issued these directives while addressing a walk arranged jointly by district health and education departments.
The walk was started from the health department offices and concluded at the same place after marching the city roads and chowk clock tower. Official sources disclosed that as many as 2,741 teams had been constituted to administer anti-polio drops to 1.1 million children up to the age of five years.
A health department spokesman, briefing the district nazim about the arrangements made for three-day anti-polio drive starting from September 12 to 14, said that Faisalabad district had been divided into 71 zones while 436 area in charges would monitor the working of mobile teams.
The EDO Health said that it was encouraging that no case of polio had been detected during the last two years and now Faisalabad could be declared a polio-free district. He directed co-ordination between headmasters, ulema and union council nazims to ensure 100 percent dispensation of anti-polio drops to the children.
