Executive Director of the Kashmiri American Council (KAC), Ghulam Nabi Fai said that the General Body of the Council in its recent meeting in Chicago Illinois reiterated five-point objectives of the council. He said the objectives include raising level of awareness in the US about the Kashmiri liberation struggle.
To highlight the inherent right of the held Kashmiris, the objectives also refer to the 1993 Report of International Court of Justice to resolve the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of people of occupied Kashmir, Kashmir Media Service reported. Dr Fai said that the objectives state that the stake of the world lies in a just resolution of this dispute.
Underlining the assurance of UN to exercise Kashmiri people's right of self-determination, the objectives remind the international body of its promise made long ago.
An emphasise was also laid to draw the attention of the international community towards the gross human rights violations committed by the Indian military and paramilitary forces in the occupied Kashmir. These atrocities, Fai added, have been documented by all key international human rights organisations.
