Strike call in Balochistan withdrawn

11 Sep, 2006

Opposition parties, Four-Party Baloch Alliance, PONM and ARD have announced to withdraw wheel jam and shutterdown strike of September 12 in Balochistan.
The strike call was given to protest killing of veteran Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti in an operation in Kohlu area on August 26, not handing over his body to his family and ongoing military operation in Balochistan.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the opposition parties presided over by National Party president Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch.
It said strike call was withdrawn on the appeal of transporters, traders and daily wagers. Instead a public meeting would be held on September 18 at Sadiq Shaheed park.
