Okara district police officer, Dr Usman Anwar on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that the police had started efforts to arrest Syed Abbas Raza Rizvi, former district Naib Nazim, Okara, as traced out main accused in the murder case of Shahnaz Fatima and report would be submitted about the investigation of the case.
The DPO, who appeared before the court along with other senior police officials of Okara District, produced Mehnaz Fatima, younger sister of Shahnaz Fatima in the police custody, who was murdered during the pendency of the case in the Apex Court.
Giving progress of the investigation of the murder case of Shahnaz Fatima, the DPO said, "We have completed investigation on technical basis with video cameras."
One accused namely Amanat had already been arrested and two other accused Syed Abbas Raza Rizvi and his driver, Asharf would be arrested shortly, the DPO said. A two-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi expressed its satisfaction over the progress report submitted by the district police through Additional Advocate General, Khadim Hussain Qaiser and adjourned the case for November 06.
The bench also directed the district police officer (DPO), Okara to submit DNA test report of Syed Abbas Raza Rizvi and the baby girl, Arbia on the next date of hearing of the case without fail. The bench also warned Mehnaz Fatima, the younger sister of Shahnaz Fatima to cooperate with the police and ensure DNA test without fail.
The bench also directed the DPO to provide protection to Mehnaz Fatima and her daughter especially during the process of DNA test, which to be conducted at KRL Hospital, Islamabad.
