Sindh Minister for Industries, Transport and Labour, Muhammad Adil Siddiqui has said that a government team will start inspections of industrial units after Eid to ensure safety equipment within the units.
Inaugurating Eid Bachat Bazaar, organised by the Site Association of Industry (SAI) on Wednesday, he said that the team comprising government officials and representatives of the association would conduct the inspection of industries.
He expressed concern over the violation of rules by industries' owners, who he said had failed in installing proper fire fighting and safety equipment in their units.
He said that every industry in Sindh would be inspected thoroughly and those found violating the rules would be fined. Referring to recent incident of fire irrupted in a warehouse in the Site industrial area, he said that it was a big fire in which one fireman lost his life.
He announced that the government had decided to pay Rs 300,000 each to those firemen who lost their lives in different fire incidents occurred recently. The minister also advised the association to provide finical help to the families of victim fire fighters. Talking to newsmen, the minister assured that Site industrial area would get additional water supply from K-3 project.
He said that he had received several complaints that Site Limited was not performing well and added that action had been initiated against some of the officials of the Site Limited. He said that the director accounts had been removed and action had been initiated against chief engineers.
Welcoming the guest, SAI Chairman, Amin Bandukda said that the association had been organising this Eid Bachat Bazaar since last 13 years to provide goods to industrial workers and people living in the vicinity on discounted prices. He urged the minister to provide at least 13-MGD water to site industrial area. Later, the minister visited the Eid Bachat Bazaar stalls.
