Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah Khan Jadoon on Friday said the government was encouraging and facilitating the local companies in oil and gas exploration and production activities.
He made these remarks while talking to the delegation from Dewan Energy, headed by its Chairman Dewan Zia-ur-Rehman Farooqi, who called on him here and discussed matters pertaining to ongoing exploration activities of his company.
The minister said that participation of local companies in oil and gas exploration and production activities was gaining momentum, and they were playing a significant role to further improve the economy. He went on to say that the government would open more blocks in offshore and onshore areas for oil and gas exploration.
Jadoon said that speedy exploration of the untapped hydrocarbon resources would help the country to bridge the energy supply and demand gap and sustain the upward trend in the growth of economy.
Dewan Energy's Chairman briefed the minister about his company's ongoing oil and gas exploration activities and discussed matters regarding accelerating the pace of work in awarded block. He appreciated government's endeavouring for boosting the petroleum sector and providing all out co-operation in carrying out the exploration activities.
