Punjab ministers advised to honour 'commitments'

07 Oct, 2006

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Afzal Sahi has advised all the provincial ministers to honour commitments made by them in the house. He said while responding to the points of order raised by Deputy Opposition Leader Rana Sanaullah Khan, Arshad Baggu and others during the question-hour on Friday.
Rana Sanaullah informed the Speaker that he was given commitments on various issues, including starting construction work in Madina-Colony Faisalabad within three months, but to no avail despite a lapse of 10 months. He demanded that the matter should be referred to assurance committee to gauge truth.
MPA Arshad Baggu was of the view that most of the commitments from the ministers on assembly floor during past four years remained "unfulfilled". He claimed he had proof to prove his viewpoint.
Housing Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani disagreed with the viewpoints of the opposition members and said there might be some genuine reasons, which caused delay in the works.
He assured that the government would more carefully handle such matters in future.
