Technical Education and Vocational Authority (Tevta) is planning to launch Matric (Tech) in selected Tevta institutes across the province which would help revolutionise the concept of technical education at matriculation level.
Chairman Tevta Khalid Mahmood said this while addressing a delegation of Care, an NGO working for education sector development in Pakistan. Matric (Tech), he said was already being offered by some private technical institutes but the curricula was not in accordance with the requirements of the Industry. Responding to the requirements of industry, we have made-up our minds to introduce required technical courses at matriculation level in addition to the on-going diploma level education.
The latest Curricula of Matric Tech are in progress with the Inter Board Curriculum Committee (IBCC) for its formal approval. After finalisation of necessary details, Matric (Tech) would be launched soon at selected Tevta Institutes, he said. While discussing the details of mutual co-operation Tevta chief said, "we are committed to assist any effort by Care to promote technical education in the province of Punjab. We can share with Care our technical expertise to run courses at schools adopted by Care, he said. Our technical expertise coupled with the initiatives taken by Care, would help root-out unemployment and poverty alleviation in the province by enhancing skilled manpower for the industrial development in the province, he said.
Explaining the methodology adopted by the authority to enhance technical manpower in the province of the Punjab, he said, we are in regular communication with the industry. Our programmes and curriculums are developed in consultation with the industry.
