Repatriation of Afghan refugees discussed

A high level meeting here on Wednesday discussed plan for repatriation of Afghan refugees from Kacha Garhi and Jalozai camps and took certain decisions in this regard.
Chief Secretary Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi chaired the meeting while Inspector General of Police (IGP), Home Secretary, DIG Special Branch, Joint Director General Intelligence Bureau (IB) and DIG Frontier Constabulary (FC) attended.
The meeting was unanimous to forthwith hold meetings with the elders of Afghan refugees of the said camps and give them a deadline for voluntary repatriation. The meeting also discussed various options including law and order implications, deployment of law enforcing personnel and registration arrangements.
According to the plan, Kacha Garhi camp will be closed up to 30th April, 2007 while Jalozai camp will be closed soon after completion of repatriation from Kacha Garhi camp.
