AJK president lauds journalists' role

President of Azad Jammu Kashmir, Raja Zulqarnain Khan has lauded the role of journalist in highlighting the agonies of the affectees of October 8, 2005 devastating earthquake and arousing global financial support for them.
"The journalists, particularly those belonging to Azad Kashmir, played a great role to apprise the world community of the plight of the earthquake affected people and mobilise donor countries and non-governmental organisations to come to their rescue," AJK President said, while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the office-bearers of AJK Union of Journalists here on Wednesday.
Raja Zulqarnain lauded the services rendered by President Pervez Musharraf in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the earthquake-hit areas and giving courage to the quake survivors to rehabilitate their lives. The recent visit of President Musharraf to the quake-affected areas and his participation in the first anniversary of the October 8 earthquake gave a new spirit to the victims. He said this visit would prove a breakthrough in the reconstruction efforts.
He also congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of AJK Union of Journalists.
Later, the AJK President administered oath to the officer-bearers of the union, including its President Mohammad Salim Parwana, senior vice president Sardar Zaheer Khan, chief organiser Altaf Hameed Rao, secretary general Mohammad Amin Butt, secretary finance Mumtaz Rahi and press secretary Mohammad Arshad Qureshi.
