The federal government has initiated a project to establish Cotton Fibre Testing Laboratories all over the country to ensure the export of quality cotton to the world.
A spokesman of Pakistan Cotton Standard Institute said that the state of the art testing laboratories have already been established in Multan, Vehari and Rahimyar Khan while similar laboratories would soon start function in Sukkur and Sanghar districts of Sindh.
He said the Cotton Standard Institute in Karachi would also be equipped with most modern machinery to improve its performance, Radio Pakistan reported.
He further said that five more testing centres are also being planned in the cotton growing areas of the country.
Laboratories and testing centres would upgrade the standard cotton besides helping enhance the demand for Pakistan's major export items all over the world, he added.
