'Elections sans Benazir unacceptable'

19 Oct, 2006

PPPP Vice Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said nobody could stop party chairperson Benazir Bhutto from returning home. Talking to newsmen at his residence on Wednesday, he said she would be in Pakistan soon after the announcement of schedule for the next elections. He said elections sans Benazir would not be acceptable at any cost.
On the question he realised that the PPPP became inactive and ineffective because it had forgotten the issues of masses. He said the party would follow its national slogan of 'Roti Kapra aur Makan' because increasing poverty, hunger, unemployment and injustice had forced the people to commit suicide.
He further said the existing assembly was not playing its constitutional role, as single person was making all decisions. He categorically stated that his release was not a result of any deal because the PPP did not believe in deal.
