City District Nazim Faisal Mukhtar has directed sanitary and solid waste management staff to ensure cleanliness on the Eid days. Addressing a meeting here on Tuesday, he directed the concerned officers to cancel leaves of sanitary and SWM staff with a view to keeping the city clean.
He said that all out efforts must be made to clean the areas where development works were being executed. He also directed the traffic police to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city during the Eid activities.
Mukhtar directed that no carts should be allowed on roads. During the meeting the nazim assured the residents of Shah Rukn-e-Alam Colony and Bihari Colony that a meeting would be convened with a view to giving ownership rights to them. He disclosed that water supply would be improved in Shah Shams Colony following installation of tube wells.

Meanwhile, Eid shopping has touched its peak as Eid-ul-Fitr is just few days away and almost all the City shopping centres and markets are seen packed with women and children after Iftar.
A survey reveals that women are taking interest in buying shoes, fancy handbags and shoulder bags, with textures, designs and colours matching with their Eid dresses. Prices of handbags are amazingly high. An ordinary handbag can be purchased at Rs 500, while prices of fancy handbags vary from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000.
Types of various casual bags, which are available at almost all famous shopping centres are vintage bag, elegance, dress, designer, leather, velvet, cotton canvas, denim, cotton jute and satin bags besides cotton, silk bags, promotional jute bags, recycle bags, embellished and evening, cell-phone bags, natural fibre, cosmetic and youth bags.
Handbags of various material, including leather, satin, silk, velvet, jute, cotton, canvas are also available at all markets. However, it was observed that girls were taking interest in beach bags, camera and cosmetic bags. Women are also seen purchasing artificial jewellery.
Main shopping centres crowded with women for Eid shopping included Hussain Agahi, Chowk Bazar, Haram-gate, Bohar-gate, Kale-Mandi, Sarafa Bazar, Saddar Bazar, Chungi No 14, Gulgasht main market, besides departmental stores in cantonment.
