Dengue virus: steps taken to prevent outbreak in Hyderabad: Nazim

The district Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that all precautionary measures have been taken in the field and the hospitals of district government to prevent out break of Dengue virus in the district. This he informed while talking to Secretary Health, Government of Sindh who called on him at his office today.
He said that district government has constituted five spray teams and have put the same in the field while five other spray machines were being purchased to increase the number of these teams up to ten. He informed that it has been decided by the district government that in addition to free medical treatment the required chemical tests of the patients admitted in the government hospitals would be made on expensive of district government while 50 percent cost of tests would be provided to the patients admitted in the private hospitals.
The Zila Nazim also informed to the Secretary Health that Wasa has been directed to identify and repair the leakage if any in water supply lines and remove the standing water with immediate effect so that the source of water ponds is plugged.
He said that though the district government was facing financial difficulties at present due to losses of heavy rain fall but has earmarked some amounts to meet with the challenge of this deadly virus.
The Secretary to government of Sindh Professor Naushad Shaikh informed the Zila Nazim that due to prompt action taken by the Sindh Health Department the number of dengue virus patients was declining in Karachi from 200 to 40 patients per day.
