Rs 250 million sanctioned for loan to women entrepreneurs

The Punjab government has allocated Rs 250 million for extending soft loan facility to women entrepreneurs in the province. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Friday.
The government had taken the step for providing solid footing to businesswomen aimed at minimising their financial problems and enabling them to establish small-scale industries and to upgrade their existing work places in the Punjab.
Special step had also been taken for providing designing and marketing facility to the businesswomen, besides appropriate arrangements would also be made for exhibiting the products being produced by women folk. The concept of this programme was to introduce and exhibiting is to attract general public and foreigners.
The present regime has focused its special attention on encouraging the women entrepreneurs to play their instrumental role in business sector and enhance the volume of exports in the Punjab.
A large number of women folk are already engaged with different business fields and are their playing dominating role in readymade garments and fashion designing in the Punjab.
In addition, the government had already initiated many programmes of social welfare of women folk and had kicked off various income generating programmes for women community aimed at providing solid footing and enabling them to earn their livelihood in a respectable way, sources added.
