21 Oct, 2006

Thousands of faithful bow down before Almighty Allah and begged for forgiveness of their sins and seek Almighty's blessings, as Juma-tul-Wida was observed with traditional religious fervour, amid stringent security measures.
The faithful thronged mosques, imambargahs and other places all over the provincial metropolis to offer Juma prayers. In order to manage extra rush of people, special arrangements were made at the mosques, imambargahs and other places. Law enforcing agencies adopted stringent security measures for the protection of faithful. Policemen in plainclothes and in uniform were deployed outside the mosques, imambargahs and other places where Juma congregations were held.
The main Juma congregations were held at Badshahi Mosque, Jamia Ashrafia, Data Darbar Mosque, Bagh-e-Jinnah, Nila Gunmbad Mosque, Minhaj-ul-Quran, Masjid Ibrahim etc. Ulema and Mushaikh in their sermons urged the faithful to remember those who have no resources to celebrate the happiness of Eid. They also exhorted upon them to follow Islamic teachings in letter and spirit.
They also said that the holy month of Ramazan has a special significance in the eyes of Almighty Allah, since He has declared it as His Month. "This is the month of immense blessings and salvation. Fasting in this month inculcates the lessons of patience, perseverance and sacrifices. This holy month witnessed the revelation of the Holy Quran which is an eternal code of life for all societies and times," they said.
Special prayers were also offered for the integrity, stability and prosperity of the country and well being of Ummah. Moreover, despite rain on Friday, the business activities have reached at its peak in the provincial metropolis. Heavy rush of traffic was witnessed at all the important markets and business centres, which were thronged by shoppers who were seen in buying spree. However soaring prices of various items including readymade garments, shoes, cosmetics etc kept them busy in search of items of their choice at reasonable prices.
Meanwhile, heavy rush of passengers was witnessed at railway stations, bus stands at Badami Bagh and Yateem Khana. People living in different parts of the province were seen standing at these places in search of transport, to reach their hometowns to celebrate Eid along with their kith and kin.
