21 Oct, 2006

The EDO Community Development Department (CDD) Hyderabad, Shafaat Hussain Uner who is also holding charge of EDO Finance has stressed upon the industrialists and organisations in private sector to spare some jobs or fix job quota in their organisations for the disabled on the pattern of government organisations, so that rehabilitation of special people could be ensured.
This he said while addressing a ceremony organised by the management of Rehabilitation Centre for Physically Handicaps (RCPH) at Qasimabad, Hyderabad on Thursday to distribute Eid gifts among the disabled enrolled in the centre.
He said that though district government Hyderabad was running RCPH on its own expenses and has allocated an amount of Rs 1.1 million to provide lodging, boarding and facilities of technical training in different trades including computer literacy but it alone could not identify, enrol, develop skills and absorb all disabled available in the district, as such private sector should participate with the government institutions in this noble cause.
He said that there were many works/jobs in private organisations, which could be performed by disabled for which normal training to them was required and added that co-ordination among stakeholder organisations is needed. He directed the management of RCPH to take the enrolled disabled for their visits of different industries and commercial organisations so that they (disabled) could observe the things about working of these organisations and make their vision clear for future training.
He said that such type of visits would also create understanding between both organisations and pave way for job opportunities to the disabled.
Unar also stressed upon other NGOs and philanthropists to come forward and help this segment of the society, which in fact needs help for rehabilitating their lives. He directed the management of the RCPH to provide qualitative education and training to the disabled and enable them to earn their livelihood at their own.
He also directed them to conduct survey and introduce market oriented training in the centre besides effective communication be developed with human resources organisations so that trained special people could be got employed. Referring the problems presented by the management, the EDO CDD Hyderabad assured that he himself in official or personal capacity would do best for the amelioration of disabled.
