'AIT collection system being made foolproof'

21 Oct, 2006

Necessary improvements are being introduced for making foolproof the collection system of Agriculture Income Tax (AIT). Punjab Revenue, Relief and Consolidation Minister Gul Hameed Khan Rokari said this here on Friday.
He said that steps taken by the government would definitely enhance the revenue and, in this regard, a separate wing of AIT has been established in the Board of Revenue, headed by Member, AIT, under Punjab Resource Management Programme.
More reforms are in the pipeline for further improving the system, he added.
He averred that after the completion of computerisation of Land Revenue Record, a transparent and authenticated data regarding agriculture land would be available and comprehensive information regarding nature of crops cultivated would also be available. "It would help make the collection system foolproof. The new system would close the doors of pilfering," he added.
