Crossing the road

21 Oct, 2006

I have been reading in these columns the pain and risk many people had to bear while crossing Sharae Faisal at places where it became signal free last year. Many speeding vehicles give a close call to people who are crossing the road during peak hours.
It was a reasonable call from the people that those driving on Sharae Faisal should care for them. However, since there are a few overhead crossings I request pedestrians to use them. There is no point in getting killed by a speeding vehicle right under or near the overhead crossings.
I would also appeal to the City Government to deploy, for a few days, some cops to force people to use the same as many are still seen risking their lives.
