THE RUPEE: dollar mixed on open market

The rupee moved down slightly versus dollar in the interbank market on Saturday, shedding one paisa for buying at Rs 60.61 and two paisa for selling at Rs 60.63 amid pre-Eid holiday session.
Heavy buying of dollars kept the rupee under pressure and it seemed that the rupee might not come out of the weak spell in the post-Eid holiday sessions, dealers said.
It posted fresh gain of 13 paisa in terms of euro for buying and selling at 76.03 and Rs 76.13, they said.

According to currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at overnight rates of Rs 60.60 and Rs 60.70 on buying and selling sides, respectively. There was no change in demand and supply situation, which helped the rupee in maintain its value.
There was further change during the entire day's trading.
On the contrary, the pound's buying rate improved from Friday's Rs 113.30 to Rs 113.40 while selling rate moved up from Rs 113.70 to Rs 113.80, dealers said.
The dollar opened at Rs 60.60 (buying) and Rs 60.70 (selling) overnight rates. It did not observe any change and closed at Rs 60.60 (buying) and Rs 60.70 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 113 (buying) and Rs 113.20 (selling) against same previous rate. It did not witness any change in the evening session and closed at Rs 113 (buying) and Rs 113.20 (selling).
