Guerrero double gives Hamburg first win

23 Oct, 2006

Substitute Paolo Guerrero struck twice to give Hamburg SV a 2-1 victory at Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, the first win of the season for Thomas Doll's side.
A ridiculous mix-up between goalkeeper Sascha Kirschstein and defender Thimothee Atouba handed Andriy Voronin an easy chance to put Leverkusen ahead after 40 minutes.
The home side had chances to increase their lead before Hamburg hit back. Guerrero came on to replace Danijel Ljuboja in the 70th minute and within 60 seconds the former Bayern Munich forward had scored, stroking in a Piotr Trochowski cross from 12 metres. The Peruvian international grabbed the winner from a Juan Pablo Sorin cross in the 86th minute.
