China praises promotion of education in Pakistan: Anisa

China has highly appreciated the steps taken by the present government for the promotion of social and education sectors in Pakistan. Chinese Education Minister Zhou Ji expressed these views during a meeting with Pakistan's Minister of State for Education Anisa Zaib Tahirkhali here on Sunday.
Anisa Zaib was here to represent Pakistan at the Education Forum for Asia-2006 at its annual Conference held between October 20-22.
She said that while eulogising the reforms in social and education sectors being carried out by the present government, the Chinese Minister especially appreciated the emphasis laid by the government of Pakistan to raise the literacy rate particularly among the women folk.
The Chinese Education Minister Zhou Ji also stressed the need for frequent exchange of visit of students and teachers between the two countries and especially mentioned the learning of Chinese and Urdu languages by students and teachers of each other country.
The Chinese Education Minister said that the President of China Hu Jintao will be visiting Pakistan next month and the visit will pave a way to further boost the already existing all weather relations between the two country.
Anisa Zaib Tahirkhali while briefing APP on the deliberations held at the Forum, said that it stressed the need of close co-ordination between the members countries and called for sharing experience for the promotion of education, specially among the less developed countries.
In all 44 delegates from Asia-Pacific region attended the Forum, which is the annual feature.
She also appreciated the decision taken at the Forum for setting-up of EU-Asia-Pacific Education Development Centre and its support to the Forum and said that this will go a long way in the promotion of education in the region.
