Some 75 vehicles will soon be linked to Global Positioning System (GPS) to increase their number to 100 bringing more police officials under the satellite-based electronic system watch here.
According to DPO Munir Chishti, GPS equipment was installed in 25 police patrolling vehicles and 75 more would have this system within the next three to four months. The system had enhanced the capability of senior police officials to monitor subordinates.
"They can not lie about their whereabouts in the presence of this system", DPO said. The GPS system displays the movement and exact location of patrolling and other official police vehicles on computer monitors. "I check their movement daily through this system, and compare the info with two other reports being maintained manually," the DPO said.
