71 confirmed cases of dengue fever in twin cities

According to laboratory results issued by the National Institute of Health (NIH) Saturday evening, the total number of positive cases of dengue virus in Islamabad and Rawalpindi now stands at 71 - 41 from different hospitals of Rawalpindi and 30 from Islamabad out of 145 samples received from various hospitals of the twin cities tested by the NIH so far.
According to an update on dengue fever issued by the health ministry in the last 24 hours, 51 patients admitted earlier with signs and symptoms of dengue fever were discharged from different hospitals in Karachi and parts of Sindh after full recovery whereas 39 patients were admitted to various hospitals of Karachi and other districts of Sindh with symptoms similar to dengue fever.
No deaths were reported from Karachi during the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths reported during the current wave of dengue fever in Karachi stands at 27.
According to the Sindh health department, the total number of patients with dengue fever symptoms reported to different hospitals in Sindh during the current wave of dengue fever since October 2, 2006 now stands at 1641.
The NIH has received 50 fresh samples of suspected cases of dengue fever from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Khushab and Peshawar during the last 24 hours.
No deaths have been reported from elsewhere in the country except Karachi till to date.
