An extra-ordinary meeting of the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) was held here on Saturday to condole the sad demise of the former Wapda chairman and ex-President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Ghulam Ishaq Khan.
Wapda Chairman Tariq Hamid presided over the meeting, which was also attended by Member (Finance) Imtiaz Anjum, Member (Water) Muhammad Mushtaq Chaudhry and acting Member (Power) Muhammad Salim Arif.
While paying homage to Ghulam Ishaq Khan, Tariq said that late was a top administrator and a sagacious leader and his services to the nation in various spheres would be long remembered. Earlier, in a condolence resolution, the Authority expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the death of Ghulam Ishaq Khan. The meeting prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss with patience. It is pertinent to mention that Ghulam Ishaq Khan served as Wapda chairman from January 2, 1961 to April 11, 1966.
