Bomb disposal squad and heavy police contingent conducted thorough search at the railway tracks between Shikarpur railway crossing and Bhosa Line railway crossing including Sukkur railway station after the police received a phone call on Saturday that a bomb has been planted there, however it proved just a hoax.
An unidentified person had called on Madadgar-15 and told that someone had installed a bomb along railway track that might cause a big damage any time.
Bomb disposal squad and police force from three police stations were rushed, who searched railway tracks, including railway buildings, offices and goods yard, but no such explosive material was found.
Superintendent, Railway Police, Sukkur Division Mirza Khalid Farooq told that Sukkur Civil Police informed him about installation of bomb and after which a thorough search of railway tracks and buildings was carried out with latest apparatus, but no explosive material found. The civil police had also searched the area.
He said the information proved only a hoax. However, Khalid said, in order to ensure smooth flow of rail traffic, effective measures have been taken for the safety of railway tracks.
