Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Sunday asked the Ministry of Religious Affairs to work out a durable mechanism for moon sighting, in consultation with Ulema, both in Pakistan and other Islamic countries so that the whole nation could unitedly celebrate the Eid festival.
He was talking to Minister Religious Affairs Ejazul Haq who called on him here at the Prime Minister House this evening.
Regarding Haj, Ejazul Haq briefed the Prime Minister about the arrangements made by his ministry for Haj and said that 150,000 Hujjaj will perform Haj this year. He said that Haj flights would start from December 5.
Shaukat asked the ministry to ensure proper arrangements for the accommodation, medical care and transportation of Hujjaj and look after their other needs so that they can perform Haj in a trouble-free manner.
The minister also briefed the Prime Minister about the status of development schemes underway in his constituency particularly those related to the provision of electricity, water supply and construction of roads.
He specially thanked the Prime Minister for initiating a historic mega project for the provision of natural gas to South Punjab, which would transform life in this part of the country.
