Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Ghauri has welcomed the Indian decision of restoring cargo shipping services and termed it beneficial for Pak-India shipping industry as well as their businessmen.
In an interview with Radio Tehran the minister said that every step that brings people of the two countries closer to each other was good and would be welcomed.
"It was an outstanding issue of Indo-Pakistan shipping industry. Pakistani and Indian private shipping companies have long desired for restoration of these services", he added.
He said that the cabinet had approved the Shipping Protocol six months ago and now the Indian cabinet had also made the decision, which was a positive move.
He said the decision would benefit regional shipping industry. The protocol would also help Pakistan and Indian exporters and was important to boost their trade as it would end monopoly of few foreign shipping companies in our regional waters and reduce cargo charges, he maintained.
To a question, he said that it was need of the hour that all issues should be solved through talks and boost out trades through bilateral co-operation.
"I believe that the Indian decision is a good step and we welcome it", he said.
