Punjab Minister for Communication & Works, Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din Khan has said that construction of District Jail Toba Tek Singh would be completed by the end of this year and Rs 98.635 million would be spent on this project.
He said this, while presiding over a meeting at his office, here on Monday. Secretary C&W, Additional Secretary Technical, Chief Engineer Works and other officers attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that barracks, death cells, watch towers, administration block, factory shed, godown and perimeter wall of the jail had been constructed.
The minister was informed that Rs 95.635 million had already been spent up to June 2006 on this project whereas Rs 3 million had been allocated for the current fiscal year. He directed the Chief Engineer Works to speed up work on the project so that it could be completed within stipulated period. He also directed to ensure the quality of construction material.
