We read regularly in newspapers tall claim by the City District Government of steps being taken to control the epidemic of dengue fever and the campaign of fumigation all over the city.
I would like to draw the attention of authorities concerned to the breeding ground for mosquitoes provided around Schon Circle. Soon after the rains about two months back, huge trenches were dug all around Schon Circle to lay drainage pipes for disposal of rain water. But nothing is being done and the trenches, full of stinking water, have been left open.
Apart from danger caused by these open trenches without any safeguards, to pedestrians and motor vehicles using these roads, they provide excellent breeding ground for mosquitoes, flies and other dangers to the health of the people in this area.
I request the authorities concerned to take urgent steps to complete whatever work was intended by digging up these trenches and close them urgently.
