The Senate standing committee on housing and works has directed Pak PWD to expedite work on schemes being implemented under Khushaal Pakistan Programme in Sindh and NWFP. At a meeting here on Wednesday with Dr Muhammad Ali Brohi in the chair, the committee took strong exception of slow pace of these schemes.
"The Pak PWD must take some tangible steps to ensure that these schemes are completed in time," a statement issued after the meeting said.
The committee also reviewed in detail the progress on development work being carried out under Tameer-e-Pakistan Programme on schemes furnished by parliamentarians in NWFP.
The committee also reviewed the progress of PSDP and the development schemes carried out under the directives of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz from the year 2002 to 2005.
The members of the committee pointed out that non-completion of development schemes within the stipulated time had affected a large number of people, and demanded of the officials concerned to take immediate steps to remove hurdles in the way of smooth implementation of the schemes prioritised by parliamentarians. The committee decided to visit various sites where work is being executed in different parts of the country.
