Pakistan's fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar will be exonerated from the charges and will eventually take part in the 2007 World Cup because nutritional supplements, herbal medicines and some pain-relieving injections were neither illegal nor banned items.
This claim was made by Shoaib's physician Dr Touseef, while talking to the newsmen, here on Friday. Dr Touseef also denied the impression that Shoaib has admitted his fault before the doping commission. He said that he (Shoaib Akhtar) plans to invite foreign experts and researchers to Pakistan to provide categorical evidence of his innocence.
He said modern researches have proven that the urine tests of any person taking such supplements and medicines can show positive results, but that does not mean that the person is indulging in drugs.
