17 dengue fever cases confirmed in Lahore

After confirmation of five more suspects of Dengue virus as positive, the total number of confirmed cases of Dengue virus has reached 17 in the provincial metropolis.
According to sources in the Health Department, all the 17 confirmed Dengue fever patients were under treatment at different city hospitals including Sheikh Zayed, Mayo Hospital and Services Hospital. The five new tested positive patients of Dengue fever have been kept in the isolated ward of the Ganga Ram Hospital. The sources claimed that the patients are being monitored closely by doctors and recovery was also seen in some of them. According to the sources, in all 104 suspected Dengue fever cases were registered in Lahore, but only 17 were found positive.
After confirmation of five new cases of Dengue fever in the city, the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has intensified fumigation campaign. On Saturday, staff of CDGL continued spray of different localities. The CDGL staff also carried out spray in different government offices.
However, residents of different localities including Mozang, Chungi Amarsihu, Ichrra, Bund road, Bhatti Gate, Ravi Road etc complained that no spray has so far been carried out by the CDGL. It is learnt that the CDGL was facing shortage of spray machines. However, it has decided to buy 10 new spray machines.
Moreover, Parks and Horticulture Authority have also started spray in the parks for the annihilation of mosquitoes. The local residents are also carrying out spray in their residences, which caused surge in prices of different sprays.
