'Punjab government to uplift historic places'

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi here on Sunday chairing a meeting on cultural heritage and beautification of the City stated that provincial government has commenced a comprehensive plan with reference to that.
Elahi said provincial government in its endeavour to uplift historic places would improve upon places such as Delhi Gate, Masjid Wazir Khan, Akbari Gate, Bawli Bagh, mausoleums of Sufis. The chief minister stated that these measures would give a tremendous boost to tourism in the city.
Elahi appraised that in order to restore 'Shahi Ghuzargah' from inner city to Lahore Fort a comprehensive plan involving Rs 800 million spending has been evolved.
He said that widening of roads, removal of hanging wires, improvement in sewerage and sanitation and other steps would be taken in that connection.
