The NWFP Public Service Commission during 2005 carried over 4022 posts syllabus and non-syllabus posts to 2006 while 153 posts in different provincial departments remained vacant due to the non-availability of professional competency and eligible candidates in the province.
According to Annual Report of Public Service Commission, NWFP, presented in the provincial legislature, the commission during the year conducted interviews of 6537 candidates against 1155 posts in four and five panels through out the year. Resultantly, 1002 candidates were recommended while remaining 153 posts remained vacant and carried out to the next year.
These vacant posts were in different provincial departments, mostly in education department. For filling the vacancies the Commission had invited applications and interviewed the eligible candidates. But the posts are still remained vacant due to non-availability of professional competency and eligible candidates.
The report said that during year 2004, the commission interviewed 545 candidates against 16 posts of Section Officers and eight posts of Excise & Taxation Officers, which were continuing since September 27, 2004 could not be completed and were carried over to the year 2005.
The Commission during 2005 also finalised the result of another competitive examination for six posts of Section Officers and two posts of Excise & Taxation Officers. In this case, 1460 candidates qualified, but only 420 appeared in the exam. Fifty-seven candidates qualified the exam and eight candidates were recommended (six for section officers and two for excise & taxation officers) posts. Against 29 left over vacancies of Civil-Judges-cum-Judicial Magistrates, 540 applications were received against which 340 candidates appeared in the examination, 117 candidates qualified the examination.
The advertisement of 189 posts of Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (104 for general seats and 85 for in-service quota) of the commission was responded by 13072 applicants: 12105 candidates applied against general seats while 967 applied against in-service police quota. Due to heavy number of applicants, the result could not be finalised till the end of the year and hence carried over to the next year.
The Commission during 2005 also received 44 posts of naib tehsildars and 18 posts of tehsildars. The Commission contemplates to hold a combined examination for both posts. However, it has now been carried over to next year.
