Afghan President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned on Thursday a suicide bombing that killed at least 42 soldiers in Dargai, saying the neighbours must unite against a shared terror threat.
"Terrorism is the root cause of instability in the region which hampers the progress and development of the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan and disrupts their peaceful life," Karzai said about Wednesday's attack. "Terrorism poses a serious threat to the life and interests of the peoples of both countries," he said in a statement.
Karzai said Afghans had also suffered at the hands of extremists and understood the pain of the people of Pakistan. Karzai said both countries must unite against terrorism. "Terrorists want to disrupt the peace and stability in Pakistan, therefore Afghanistan and Pakistan must unite against terrorism and extremism and destroy their root causes," he said.
