Draft signed for Sonda-Jhirk coal power plant

The initial draft about setting up the 300-mw coal fired power plant at Sonda-Jhirk in district Thatta and beginning coal mining in the area was signed here on Thursday by China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation and the Sindh government here.
Sindh Minister for Mineral Development Irfanullah Khan Marwat and Madame Qin, vice president of China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation signed the draft. The MoU of this project has already been inked in the Sindh CM House here.
Marwat said that the Chinese firm would provide Rs 300 million for detailed coal geological investigation of the project to complete the feasibility. He said that the company would start working next month and complete the survey in three months.
CM Investment Cell Chairman Muslim Abbassi, D-G Coal Authority Abbass Ali shah, Additional Secretary Iqbal Jumani, and Executive Director of China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation Goh Hok Hun Roger were also present.
