International Business Machines has signed a five-year deal worth $70 million to provide data services and consultancy to Norwegian oil and gas group Statoil, IBM said on Monday.
The announcement of the deal precedes IBM's opening on Wednesday this week of a new centre in Norway's oil capital, Stavanger, to serve the petroleum and chemicals industries. Under the agreement, IBM will deliver maintenance support and development services for Statoil computer applications world-wide, IBM said.
