17 Nov, 2006

Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) would send a delegation to Russia for the promotion of Pakistani rice there.
The decision was taken after a detailed exchange of views between Reap Chairman Abdul Aziz Mania and members of the Reap managing committee with Karachi branch of Russian Trade Commission head Vitaly Glinkin at a meeting held here recently, according to details available here on Thursday.
Pakistan-Russia Business Council of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry's Director Farooq Afzal gave a presentation on "potential of rice market in Russia."
Glinkin informed the Reap members that Russia imported 700,000 tonnes rice annually and Pakistani rice, being of good quality, had a lot of potential for rice export to his country. Farooq Afzal informed the meeting that his firm had established an office and a warehouse in Moscow and the Reap members could use this facility for export of rice to Russia.
