The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to respondents in a petition filed by Majlis-e-Ahrar challenging the decision of the district government not allowing them to hold a public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan.
The petitioner, head of Majlis contended that his organisation wanted to hold a public meeting but respondent district government did not allowed it to hold the meeting. He said that the respondent government had already allowed different political parties to hold the public meeting at the same venue but refused to allow them.
He said that action of the respondent government is illegal, discriminatory and without lawful authority. He therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondents to allow them to hold a public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan.
