Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) Punjab has supported Woman Protection Bill in the National Assembly because of its commitment to more than 50 percent woman of the country. This was stated by Farzana Raja Information Secretary Punjab Chapter of the Party in a briefing here on Saturday.
She underlying the importance of support given on the issue of bill for woman stated that constitution of the Party was very clear on it and the Party had unequivocally made its stance clear on the subject of 'Hudood' even in its constitution.
Ghulam Abbas new Secretary General of the provincial chapter speaking on the issue of 'Hudood' stated that this issue was created by the authoritarian regime of late President Zia-ul-Haq who wanted to use it against Benazir Bhutto for cowing down the Party.
Farzana continuing with her assertion stated that PPPP had chalked out a busy program of holding functions and meetings on the occasion of 'Foundation Day 'of the party throughout the Province.
Giving program of meetings to be organised by the Party, Farzana said a public meetings in Faisalabad on November 29; Multan on December 1; in Sialkot on December 5 would be held. She said that PPPP Punjab would hold in befitting manner a public meeting in relation with 'Foundation Day' on November 30, 2006 at Lahore.
The Information Secretary speaking about preparation of voters list in the Country stated that multi identification system should be allowed for it .She stated that it was preferable that voters list prepared in the earlier general elections was allowed. The Secretary Information pointed that, as procedure of making of new identity cards was cumbersome, people should be allowed to present other identifications during voting.
Farzana on the occasion said that present leadership of Chaudhries was on the way-out. She hinted at division amongst camps of PML-Q and said that the Party appears to be divided between that of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
Speaking about turn coats of the Party, Information Secretary stated that in the first meeting of Punjab Executive held under leadership of PPPP Punjab new president Shah Mahmood Qurashi, it had been made well clear that there was no place for them in the Party.
General Secretary PPPP Punjab Ghulam Abbas replying to a query on coming back of Benazir into the Country said that her return was final and the venue where she would land up would be that of historic city of Lahore. He said this was the place where her father Shaheed Zulifqar Ali Bhutto first established the Party (PPP).
In resolutions passed in Punjab Executive meeting during the day, incident of Bajaur was criticised along with demanding from the present regime to take back cases against Benazir Bhutto and her spouse Asif Ali Zardari. In one of the resolutions, the Party appreciated the services of Qasim Zia and Rana Aftab as ex president and General Secretary of the Punjab Chapter of the Party.
