Peshawarites protest against establishment of toll plazas

Peshawarites on Saturday joined hands with Security Council, an organisation comprising traders, labour unions, lawyers and political workers against the establishment of toll plazas at the entry points of the city by the City District Government.
A meeting of the residents of Peshawar City was held at Habibi Restaurant, Khyber Bazaar with Habibullah Zahid, chairman, Peshawar Security Council in the chair. The meeting was attended by the local leadership of almost all political parties of the country.
The participants of the meeting announced support for Peshawar Security Council, a grand organisation of traders, labour unions, lawyers, doctors and political workers against the construction of toll plazas at entry points of the City.
The participants of the meeting vowed not to tolerate the establishment of toll plazas at any cost and asked Governor Lieutenant General (Retd) Ali Mohammad Jan Aurakzai and Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani to intervene into the matter.
The meeting urges the concerned people to stop this anti-people decision of the City District Government. It has called for the removal of the material of toll plazas from all entry points before the end of the current month.
The meeting was attended by Malik Ghulam Mustafa, Mian Mushtaq, Nawab Ali Yousafzai (ANP), Zulfikar Awan (PPP), Mufti Naveed-ul-Asr (PML-N), Ibrar Khalil (PPP-Sherpao), Arbab Hafeezullah, Syed Sajjad Shah Badshah (PML-Q), Malik Pervez, Khalid Gul Mohmand (JI), Haji Ghufran (Trader), Jehangir Afridi (Transporter), Baz Mohammad Khan, Amanullah Khan, Murad Khan, Taj Mahal Afridi, Mohammad Azam Arain, (Arab Abdul Aziz (PMAP), President, District Bar Association, Fida Gul advocate, Atlas Khan advocate, Nauroz Khan advocate, Haji Iqbal Chamkani, Haji Mamoor Khan, Qari Masahib Gul, Shahid Khan, Sheikh Abdul Haq and Astana Gul and others.
The speakers attributed the step of the district government to the 'ghundaism' of the district nazim and extended full support to Peshawar Security Council against the establishment of the toll plazas. They alleged that a group of the district nazim was hatching a conspiracy against the people of Peshawar.When Business Recorder contacted City District Nazim, Haji Ghulam Ali, who was on an official visit to Karachi, said that all those who making hue and cry were trying to get cheap publicity.
