Balances under Special Convertible Rupee Accounts (SCRAs) dipped to $299.2 million on 17th November after having risen to $306.6 million on 15th November. The largest withdrawal of $13.1 million took place in the case of USA whose balances under SCRAs fell to $125.1 million on 17th.
UK balances improved marginally to $84 million even though it had a net withdrawal of $6.2 million on 17th.
The largest positive inflow occurred in the case of Singapore whose balances rose from $100.8 million on 15th to $106.3 million on 17th November. Switzerland''s debit balance improved from $28.9 million on 15th to $28.8 million indicating a small positive inflow registered on 17th.
No change was reported in the balances of other players though the stock market in the country turned bearish. The stock''s position as represented by KSE 100 Index and KSE-30 index showed losses of 144 points and 109 points with the two indices closing at 10,706 points and 13,220 respectively on 17th November compared with the levels obtaining on 16th.
The BRIndex-30 also followed the same trend shedding 83 points to stand at 11,314 on 17th. Overall thus, the market reflected both losses in share prices as well as sluggish trading in shares even at low prices. (Report by research.dept@aaj.tv)
