SAB told to keep in touch with writers and intellectuals

Provincial Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro has directed the management of Sindhi Adabi Board (SAB) to remain in constant touch with noted writers and intellectuals of the province.
She said this while chairing a meeting of the Board of Governors of SAB, said a statement on Sunday. The minister, who is also the Chairperson of SAB, directed the management of the Board to consult the writers and intellectuals for bringing about improvements.
She directed that special attention be paid towards the printing, binding of books as well as the quality of paper.
Dr Khuhro also called for effective marketing so that more and more books could be sold.
She pointed out that SAB has been extended a grant of Rs 20 million which helped it clear the entire debt.
She said as compared to the previous years, the sale of SAB books has increased manifold. In the year 2005-06 a total of 14,73,628 books were sold.
She said there should be a corner at every stall for the books published by SAB.
Secretary of SAB, Ejaz Manghi informed that through the efforts of Education Department Rs 38.88 million have been approved.
