City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil said on Wednesday the CDGK in collaboration with the federal government would soon constitute a search and rescue team in the metropolis.
The federal government had approved a plan in this regard while the city government had also handed over 22 small vehicles to the Fire Brigade Department for establishment of a Disaster Management Cell, she said while talking to the ex-chief Fire Officer, Karachi Zamir Ahmed Siddiqui at her office here. Zamir Ahmed, on request of the City Naib Nazim presented Disaster Management Plan to her.
Nasreen said that the city had a disaster management plan but they wanted to take benefit from suggestions of the experienced persons in order to further enhance its efficiency. She said all the issues of the Fire Brigade department were being resolved on priority. She said setting up of one fire station at each of 178 union councils, having two fire was planned.
