MMA central leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmad has said MMA will not resign from Senate and provincial assemblies unless opposition grand alliance is formed. We will tender resignations from senate and provincial assemblies seats when grand opposition alliance will be forged", he said this while talking to the journalists here in the cafeteria of the parliament house Friday.
He said that no decision has so far been taken on formulation of grand alliance between MMA and ARD. A joint strategy will have to be evolved in this connection, he added.
He pointed out that PPP-P had not taken MMA into confidence on the matters related to charter of democracy and no trust move against the prime minister and even then the religious alliance sided with them. On the other hand PPP-P lent support to Women Protection Bill recommended by select committee without consulting us, he remarked.
"I have resigned from national assembly in the light of decisions taken by the top leadership and supreme council of MMA", he informed. I have complied with this decision and now I consider it useless to sit in the assembly", he asserted.
The current assembly is raised on resignations, he said adding resignation was taken from Zafar Ullah Jamali first of all. Shaukat Aziz tendered resignation from senate and became Member of National Assembly. The assembly will stand dissolved when MMA resigns, he claimed.
