Sessi pays Rs 2.475 million to secured workers in October

Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (Sessi) Commissioner Rasool Bux Phulpoto has directed all the Sessi directorates to expand social security scheme across the province.
He also asked to make sure provision of all basic necessities to the secured workers and their family members, besides achieving the target of collecting the contribution from registered units. He was speaking in a meeting held here on Friday to review monthly performance of the institution.
He said that Sindh Minister for Labour and Sessi Governing Body's Chairman Mohammad Adil Siddiqui was taking all the possible steps to ensure financial assistance to secured workers.
It was told in the meeting that during last month, cash benefits of Rs 2,475,000 had been provided to workers and their families. Of these Rs 536,327 compensation for illness, Rs 1,324,298 as gratuity/disability pension, Rs 323,666 for injuries during working hours, Rs 148,870 as pension to the heirs of workers, Rs 17, 739 for delivery and Rs 24,000 were given in the case of death/Idat under the social security scheme.
The meeting was informed that more than Rs 82.534 million were collected from 18,870 registered industrial establishments under the social security contribution last month whereas the number of registered workers was 351,385.
As many as 112,172 patients were registered at Out Patient Departments of Sessi hospitals during the month under review and 7,442 patients were referred to specialists while 137 big operation were carried.
