Australian cricket 'culture'

27 Nov, 2006

The Australian cricket team, umpire Darrell Hair and the government have given comprehensive demonstration of their racist mentality and "culture". The Aussie players and Cricket Australia were the only ones who came out in support of Darrell Hair, the man who has been condemned as a racist umpire by all Asian cricketing nations.
The misbehaviour of the Australian team with the Indian cricket board chief, who is also a federal minister, during the Champions Trophy Final prize distribution ceremony clearly shows what stuff they are made of.
As far as the Australian government is concerned, it has been on the wrong side of the two illegal (Vietnam and Iraq) wars. One was based on its racist mentality and the other one on its senseless intolerance of our religion. It is high time that the International Cricket Council take note of what is going on in Australia and stop further misadventures by slapping strict fines and suspensions as the great game of cricket is being brought into disrepute.
Let us have uniform standards of behaviour for all. If this is not done immediately I can see the division of ICC in the near future and it will be a sad day in the history of cricket.
