Wapda Chairman Tariq Hamid has directed the power distribution companies (DISCOs) to inform general public before initiating up-gradation and maintenance work and subsequent power shutdown so that they can plan accordingly and inconvenience caused to them is minimised.
While presiding over a meeting of Chief Executive Officers of all distribution companies, here on Monday, Tariq further directed the companies to inform the public about the nature of maintenance work so that they became fully aware in this respect.
He also emphasised upon the need to complete up-gradation work before the summer commences. Matters pertaining to system augmentation and village electrification were also discussed in detail in the meeting.
Tariq said that village electrification during the last three years was a haul mark and Wapda could take pride of it. He urged upon the DISCOs to further gear up the efforts in this regard so that all the villages with ten houses could be electrified by December 2007 in compliance of the commitment made by the Government to the people of Pakistan.
The Member (Power) emphasised on the need to expedite procurement and installation of capacitors to improve voltage profile and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the consumers.
The meeting was attended by the General Manager (C&M) Power, Principal Staff Officer to the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officers of NTDC and DISCOs.
